Alyssa has been playing violin for 2 years now. Each time we go for her lesson, she asks if she can play on the piano there. She can pick out songs that she plays on violin by ear. This spring, she asked if we could get a piano. I told her to pray about it. We can’t afford to purchase one, but I’ve heard of folks giving pianos away. So she has been praying for about 6 months now.
A couple of days ago, I just out of the blue decided to post on Freecycle to see if anyone had a piano they wanted to get rid of. I was contacted by a gentleman who lives about 8 miles from us. He has an upright piano that he purchased from a church about 7 years ago. He said he has really enjoyed playing it, but his family recently had to move into a dramatically smaller home and he has no room for it. He had listed it on Craigslist, but when he saw my post on Freecycle, he decided to give it to us instead!
In order to fit the piano into our house, we will have to get rid of our oak entertainment center and television in the livingroom, but we don’t watch that tv as a family anyway. It will be a welcome addition to our home. Alyssa is over the moon with excitement and I just learned of a music teacher about 15 minutes from our home that gives free lessons to homeschoolers! We’ll have to decide whether to do that or use a computer program initially.
Now we just need to find a way to transport it to our house!
