Because of Winn-Dixie

We decided last night to watch a movie on Pay Per View after Alyssa went to bed.  The choices were mostly the kinds of movies that we don’t enjoy, so we chose “Because of Winn-Dixie” – knowing basically that it was about a dog.  It turned out to be about a whole lot more.

What a GREAT movie!  Although its targeted audience is 9-10 year olds, we adults got a whole lot out of it.  We appreciated that the producers did not feel the need to tuck in any profanity.  The characters were eccentric and likeable and the story ranged from funny to sad to incredibly moving.
I immediately got online and ordered the DVD – and found that the movie is based on a book written in 2001 by the same title.  I ordered it as well.

  1. I am so leary about watching anything these days, but once in a while we like to watch something good with the kids. So, I might have to take your recommendation here and go rent this one. I have heard it was good, but wasn’t sure.

By the way, you have a lovely blog and I have only explored it a bit, but wanted to say Hello and Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving 🙂

  2. But, this one we did- the girls and I went one afternoon when it first came out and we really enjoyed it! I almost cried at the end when they all started singing…lol… anyway, my daughter (12yo) loves the book, it is now one of her favorites, along with another by the same author. It is so nice to find good, clean movies these days! 😉
